Making my first trip back to Oklahoma since 2002... haven't seen my family since then, outside of immediate family I mean. I was last there for my grandmothers funeral, who in one last act of defiance, died in August. Sure did enjoy carrying that casket in 100 degree weather with 85 percent humidity... hard to laugh along with her, but somehow I managed. I was born on her birthday so we kind of had this special bond throughout our lives, nothing wrong with being the favorite if someone was to play favorites. ;)
So I'm adventuring back at the end of this month to see my parents at their farm. I believe it's in Grant County... somewhere between Nash and Wakita.. a 160 acre farm that my father had grown up on. I try not to say my dad bought the farm that he grew up on... everyone thinks I meant he died. They moved back there when my dad retired three years ago ish. It's going to take a bit of acclimating coming from a town of 900,000 to spending a week at the farm, good chance to get in some extreme R & R. I may adventure to Enid to see some cousins... hoping they still have a titty bar.
I'm also excited to spend some time with my son who's been living in Ponca City for that last year and a half. He really loves the small town life after spending the last 7 in the Bay Area. He just got a job doing tech support for AT&T which I'm extremely excited about... not many tech jobs in that area.
Anyway... I was just rambling, excited to come home again. I haven't lived in OK since I think I was 5 although I have spent many summers there. Looking forward to seeing family and enjoying my mothers cooking... I'm hoping she still has some sand plum jelly to put on the biscuits in the morning.
Peace to all Okies... hope you have a safe holiday.

No worries about the unbearable heat of August in OK~~~~it's December & we are currently in the middle of an ice storm~~~oh the joys of OK living. Anyway, unlike OKC/Tulsa areas, we haven't lost electricity here in Enid yet. But more icy rain coming this way soon, so ya never know! So glad to have gas fireplace, stove & water heater!!
